all lit up

its getting darker out earlier and it could be depressing....unless.... you were flipping these lights on, in which case, you need not the sun to go down to enjoy how gorgeous they are.

light light can go on the ceiling or act as a sconce, either way, absolutely beautiful

simple but stunning:

pretty FUN things

i have to admit to loving this for all the wrong reasons.  yes, i am all for peace, but what i really like are the gold dots and the impact of this dish.  i see it so many different places - not just at the table, but on a vanity with bottles of perfume, hung on the wall, as a catch all for the entryway....  good for the holidays or for a shot of 70's glam.

http://www.cameonouveau.com/Gold-Peace-Sign-Dinner-Plate-p/h_plat_001.htm

(there is also an understated version of this for a peace loving minimalist)
while i'm in the holiday kinda mood (strange since it is almost 70degrees here today), might as well post this (it's the right side of the photo we are focusing on)

wine bottle accessories
the fur stole is cracking me up.  drinking in style has taken on a whole new meaning.  what a fun way to bring a bottle of wine over during the holidays (or champagne on New Years).   yes, the santa is cute too, but the fur is the winner here.

sofa envy

i have sofa envy.  very simple.  i long for a chesterfield in a moody color, in a sumptuous fabric.

thackery chesterfield

this is the kind of sofa that invites you in and says "come on in, stay for a while.  get cozy"
and i want it.  love the color, love the low back.  love how comfortable it looks.

American Indian College Fund
The American Indian College Fund is a Native American-operated organization dedicated to education. More than 30 tribal colleges serve American Indian students from every geographic region in the United States. They are beacons of hope for social and economic change in the communities they serve. The fund provides educational opportunities for students and disburses 6,000 scholarships annually. For a century, Pendleton Woolen Mills has maintained a mutual respect for our original customers, Native Americans. That is one of many reasons we support this philanthropic partnership. When you purchase an American Indian College Fund Blanket, a portion of the proceeds goes to help tribal colleges. To learn more about the fund, call 1-800-776-3863 or visit www.collegefund.org.

creature comforts for that strange creature: a toddler

something big is going on in our house the past 2 days - our little girl is now in a BIG GIRL bed.  ohmy.

these are little things that will make a big difference in the world of R:

a nightlight that can stay on, without being blinding or the focus (ie: staring at it in an effort NOT to go to sleep.  i love this so much, i want one for our bedroom and for the living room...  okay, maybe not, but maybe).  and although it comes in pink (girl), orange (gender neutral) and navy (boy), i think the navy is the most innocuous.  wish the picture showed what a pretty light it throws - like a clear night dotted with little stars.

http://www.giggle.com/eng/product/star_egg_nightlight/staregg
also saw this, and since R is "the duck" its a cute addition to her bath

http://www.giggle.com/eng/product/duck_step_stool/102ss0000ylw

for some reason, when i first saw this pic, i thought it was a picnic table.  cute stool.  maybe i need glasses.

we're just getting started

spotlight on side tables.

came across this side table the other day and was pleasantly surprised with the look - weathered wood, simple design - overall it has a good effect and had me looking for more side tables that have a 'wow" factor:

http://www.westelm.com/products/turned-pedestal-side-table-g539/?pkey=ccoffee-side-tables

and they weren't hard to find...  i love the lines of this table so very very much.  dearest santa.....

or Jamie Young's nesting tables - gorgeous!

and since it seems we are heading in the direction of all out glamour, how about a Tony Duquette Collection table light by Baker.

let your light shine down

i've already shared this on facebook, but i just can't help but post here too.  it is so pretty, and although i wouldn't consider myself a DIY type of girl, i might DIY (aka: find someone who will make this for me)...

installation of 'decanterlights' at Coquine bar in London by Lee Broom
i think of all the lighting i look at, and how there are so many beautiful chandeliers, but this makes my heart skip a beat.  my ma-ma had a table full of decanters - so many similar to these...  i'll have to round up all the relatives and find out just who has them so that i (aka someone else) can recreate this for my dining room.
love LOVE love the light these throw.

rain rain its okay....

not that i own an umbrella (true to form, i prefer the mad dash) or an umbrella stand, but i will most certainly buy one for the sole purpose of owning this umbrella stand by Beeline Home.  very graceful.  very, very pretty.

will most certainly dress up my entrance way without cramping my style.   now i'll have to find that perfect umbrella.

oh i can't get you out of my head Tessallae

i've fallen in love.  even though i have bedding.  even though i love my bedding.  i've fallen hard, and i can't stop thinking about it.

this duvet from Anthropologie is just too pefect (i have a navajo rug in our room that would just play so nicely with these colors, patterns, and it's just so cozy looking)....

Tessallae Duvet
the colors, the textures, the patterns....  the details.  on this rainy day, all i want to do is snuggle up under it!

born in 1940, well loved in 2011

outdoor furniture - there is so much to love.  modern and sleek, warm worn wood tones, bright colors, great textures...  it can be hard to choose a look.  Walter Lamb has got my attention with these sexy lounge chairs, and well, the whole line, because it's just too pretty not to share (seat and seat backs are woven)

Walter Lamb Chaise

the black/brass combination is swoon worthy (which is exactly what i'm doing right now)

Walter Lamb lounge chair
and the dining table (don't  miss the rectangular dining table and the side table) - the geometric top need not a table cloth, let the glass shine and be sure to get some gorgeous place settings.

Walter Lamb Dining Table

don't think i'll ever get tired of looking at these.

i'm back!

ohhkay, after a crazy month, i'm back with some goodies.......

i love the coast, but i'm not much of a coastal accessory type person (though I love the people who are and who do it so well).  these however, are too cute!  would love to see them used in powder room or on a desk as a catch all.
Don't Rock the Gravy Boat Bowels

and these frames would be so much fun going up a set of stairs or to greet you at a landing - there are different sizes and colors.  what i'm really loving is how they hang from a ribbon and that you'll get to have some fun picking out what they hang from.  lots of cute options:

Obrien Scridde Designs Petite Color Stripe frame

ikat ikat ikat - it's still out there.... everywhere!  here's a pretty take on it as a lamp shade (i'd keep the base simple and let the shade speak for itself):

Jamie Young Lighting Lamp Shade Royal Ikat Classic Drum Large
have a dead corner in your home somewhere - need to add height, a pop of color, a bit of whimsy..... this mobile is cute without being cutesy.  i'm thinking about using it in front of a big window to add some visual interest

Ambrosial Vines Mobile
oh my oh my oh my, SO MUCH FUN!  all the colors - can totally see these.... anywhere!  love the organic shape and the bright colors!  From the super formal (what a great interruption of elegance) to the super mod, these cubes are sure to delight and add a punch of fun!  i'm pretty excited about them, if you couldn't tell.....

Frank Gehry Left Twist Cube
